Christopher Reidhas a second chance at life.

The hip-hop icon known for his towering high-top fade — who rose to fame as one half of the duo Kid 'N Play alongside Christopher Martin, and later starred in theHouse Partyfilms — is recovering after undergoing a heart transplant.

"New year, new heart, new vibration," Reid said ina sit-down withGood Morning America's Michael Strahanthat aired on Thursday, Feb. 5.

Reflecting on his scare, Reid, 61, said he began noticing something was wrong with his health over the past year when everyday tasks became harder.

"I started to feel a little bit more fatigued than before," Reid explained. "And then when you feel that shortness of breath, sleeping a lot more than normal. And I think sometimes you kind of just chalk it up to, 'I'm getting older, the road is harsh.' "

But by July, his symptoms worsened, sending him to the emergency room, where doctors delivered a shocking diagnosis.

"Congestive heart failure," Reid said. "That's a bad one."

After initially being treated with medication, Reid returned to his cardiologist at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles just weeks later with worsening swelling, raising serious concerns.

"He came in very swollen again," said Dr. Erika Jones. "That is a little unusual in somebody who has been started on treatment, for the swelling to come back that quickly."

Additional blood work revealed Reid's heart failure was beginning to affect other organs. He was rushed to the ICU and told that a heart transplant was his only option.

"When we think about status for heart transplant, he was very high on that list because of how ill he was," said cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Laura DiChiacchio. "[He was] really dealing with a life or death situation."

Reid said he was determined to approach the process with gratitude and purpose.

"I wanted to let them know at the same time, 'Hey, I am worthy of this,' " he said. "If I do get this gift, I intend to respect it and really live life to the fullest."

Just nine days later, he received the call. "They're saying, 'We got the heart and we want to put it in tomorrow night at 10 p.m.,' " Reid recalled. "About seven hours later, I have a new heart."

Now recovering, Reid said the experience has left him feeling renewed. "I hope that I'm the same person, but that I'm a better version of myself," he said. "Because man, this thing, this is a beautiful life."

Reid's story comes during American Heart Month in February, a national campaign dedicated to raising awareness about cardiovascular disease, the leading cause of death in the U.S., according to the CDC.

It's a reality Reid says too many people ignore until it's too late. He told Strahan he's hoping his story will encourage others, particularly people of color, to prioritize their health.

"A lot of people be walking around with heart disease because they don't go to the doctor," Reid said. "You might not [get over it]. So I'm urging all of my fans, all of y'all's loved ones too — get it checked out."

As for Reid's future, Strahan said the musician is feeling energized and is already working on a new special, planning additional Kid 'N Play tour dates and writing a book.

Its title, fittingly, isHeart of the Matter.

Chalamet brought to life the character of table tennis hustler Marty Reisman, inspired by the 1950s sports world, a role that even earned him his first Golden Globe last month for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.

Moreover, the film has received significant awards buzz, with an impressive nine nominations, including the Best Picture category for the upcoming Oscars ceremony next month.

Amid this promotional tour, the actor was unexpectedly spotted by several fans and paparazzi leaving an ultra-exclusive luxury sports and lifestyle club called 21 Blanche, located in the city's 9th arrondissement, withMickey 17actress Anamaria Vartolomei.

In a brief clip, the two were seen making their way toward the exit together, but upon spotting photographers, Vartolomei allegedly became hesitant to walk out.

The actress was then seen stepping aside for Chalamet and letting him walk out solo first, following behind him with another man, who many assumed was a member of their team.

One viral Reddit post claimed, "The pair had suddenly realized they were being filmed as they seemed to shy away from the cameras and returned to their hotel around 10:30 PM."

At the time of writing, there is no confirmed film project linking the two, but there does appear to be a luxury designer brand connection between Chalamet and Vartolomei.

Reportedly, theCall Me By Your Namestar is the global ambassador for the Bleu de Chanel fragrance, while Anamaria is a long-standing House Ambassador for Chanel, specifically for fashion and beauty.

More disturbing details are emerging regardingSarah Ferguson's correspondence with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein—including details of a lunch with Epstein that the former Duchess of York brought her daughters to just days after his release from prison.

In emails dated July 27, 2009—five days after Epstein was released from prison after serving 13 months for soliciting a minor for prostitution and soliciting prostitution,Peoplereported—it is suggested that Sarah brought her daughtersPrincess BeatriceandPrincess Eugenieto lunch with Epstein in Miami, Florida soon after. The email exchange is part of the latest crop of Epstein files, this one released by the U.S. Department of Justice on January 30.

"What address shall we come to," the email from Sarah read. "It will be myself, Beatrice and Eugenie." At the time, Beatrice and Eugenie were just 20 years old and 19 years old, respectively.

A week later, on August 3, 2009, Sarah referenced the lunch in a different email, writing, "I have never been more touched by a friends [sic] kindness than your compliment to me infront of my girls. Thank you Jeffrey for being the brother I have always wished for."

Per a report published byThe Daily Mail, Epstein wrote in a 2011 email that Sarah "was the first to celebrate my release with her two daughters in tow."

Other emails from the latest crop of the Epstein files include other inappropriate comments about Beatrice and Eugenie. In one email, Epstein asked Sarah about an upcoming trip to New York, to which she replied, "Not sure yet. Just waiting for Eugenie to come back from a shagging weekend!!"

Other items included in the latest batch involving Sarah and her ex-husband, the formerPrince Andrew, include a photo ofAndrew Mountbatten-Windsor kneeling on all foursover an unidentified woman on the ground. Despite this, Andrew continues to deny any wrongdoing.

In an email sent in 2010, Sarah reportedly told Epstein, "just marry me," adding (perThe Daily Mail), "You are a legend. I really don't have the words to describe, my love, gratitude, for your generosity and kindness. Xx I am at your service." According to the outlet, Sarah had also told Epstein to "marry" her in an email from September 2009.

In his correspondence with Epstein, Andrew included photos of his daughters when they were in their early 20s,Peoplereported, sending Epstein Christmas cards from 2011 and 2012 with Beatrice and Eugenie included.

In October, not long after Andrew and Sarah surrendered their respective Duke and Duchess of York titles,King Charlesstripped Andrew of all of his royal titles and privileges. Both Andrew and Sarah moved out of Royal Lodge, their shared 30-room mansion in Windsor, and are living separately, Andrew moving to the Sandringham estate, and Sarah's whereabouts unknown. Despite all of the scandal, Beatrice and Eugenie have retained their princess titles and Her Royal Highness stylings.

According to a source speaking toThe Daily Mail, Beatrice and Eugenie "are aghast at what they have read. They are mortified by the emails their mother has sent to Epstein. It is so embarrassing for them."

"We don't believe the girls were told much about what has just emerged, and they will simply be aghast at just how close their parents were to this appalling man," the insider added.

Yet, a source told the outlet, they are staying "loyal to their parents in private while separating themselves in public."

"The Yorks are just about holding it together as a family, but this has put new strains on their relationships," the insider said. "The last I heard, the daughters were still supporting both parents behind the scenes."

(The Center Square) - The Goldwater Institutepetitionedthe Arizona Supreme Court to overturn a lower court's decision that said professor Owen Anderson could not sue Arizona State University for mandatory diversity, equity and inclusion training.

Stacy Skankey, a lawyer for the Phoenix-based nonprofit, told The Center Square this week that the petition to the Arizona Supreme Court is challenging an Arizona Court of Appealsdecisionmade in December that said public employees can't sue over a state law, "which prohibits certain blame or judgment on the basis of race, sex, and ethnicity."

Skankey said Anderson is asking the state Supreme Court to "correct the legal error made" the court of appeals.

The lawyer called the court of appeal's decision "far-reaching," adding that "it turned a civil rights law into a suggestion that no one can enforce, so it made the law effectively meaningless."

"A law without any mechanism to enforce the law is just words on paper," Skankey explained.

The Arizona Supreme Court "needs to correct" the error, she said.

Arizona law forbids local and state governments and universities from requiring DEI training, Skankey noted. She added the law prevents state taxpayers' money from funding that training.

In 2024, Anderson sued ASU after being required to attend the school's "Inclusive Communities" DEI training.

Anderson told The Center Square this week that the things he had issues with regarding ASU's training dealt with white skin being signaled out "as something that could be morally judged" and "anti-Christian rhetoric."

He said many people who underwent the ASU DEI training said it was "not valuable" and a "waste of time."

ASU still provides the "Inclusive Communities training," Skankey said.

Anderson said he's suing over "really important employment issue facing Arizona."

He added that his legal case "has implications" for state employees about whether they can take their "employer to court" if employees believe "they're violating the law."

If Anderson's legal case doesn't go to court, ASU is effectively striking down the law, making it "unenforceable," the professor explained.

Anderson said the training ASU requires "shuts down free speech because it tells employees" that this is their boss' political perspective, and if employees disagree with this, they could lose their job or lose a promotion.

"There's really no place for the employer taking a political stand like this instead of just encouraging free debate," he said.

The professor said it is of "supreme importance" that people at universities can speak freely.

"The whole value of a university is [to] pursue knowledge and wisdom. And if we can't have free debate and if we can't have free speech, then all those goals go out the window," he explained.

According to Anderson, people on the left say they're for inclusion, but don't include a conservative or Christian perspective.

" I'm just asking ASU to live up to its own standards and promote and protect a minority viewpoint, which in our day and age means a conservative Christian viewpoint," Anderson explained.

The Center Square reached out to ASU but did not receive a response before press time.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has recalled over 84,000 bottles of Parodontax mouthwash.

The reason for the recall is that key details are missing from some of these bottles' labels. The specific product that's impacted is the16.9-ounce size (500 ml) of Parodontax Active Gum Health Mouthwash, in standard mint flavor.Each bottle of this mouthwash should have the visible lot code "0665363" and an expiration date "08/31/2027" printed on the bottle. The problem, though, is that recalled mouthwash may have missing or illegible code information or date details on the label.

The FDA has designated this recall asClass III, which means that If you use the mouthwash after its expiration date, it could make you sick. However, the FDA defines a Class III recall as "a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product is not likely to cause adverse health consequences." This is the FDA's least dangerous recall classification.

What should you do if you have a recalled bottle of mouthwash?

Even if the risks may be low, you don't want to take any chances. If your Parodontax Active Gum Health Mouthwash has an illegible lot code or date on the bottle or the lot code and/or date is visible but confirms it's part of the affected batch, avoid using the product.Contact the store or website where you purchased it and ask for a refund or replacement item with different lot code and expiration date info clearly printed on the label. MANSFIELD, Conn. (AP) — A freight train derailed Thursday in Connecticut, sending cars carrying hazardous materials tumbling into a river, though officials say they don't appear to be leaking.

Local and state officials said the incident happened shortly before 9:30 a.m. along the Willimantic River, in a rural part of Mansfield, which is also home to the University of Connecticut.

Mansfield Fire Chief John Roache said six of the train's roughly 14 cars fell off the tracks, and four of them ended up in the water.

The cars off the tracks were carrying liquid propane while those still on the tracks carried other materials, he said.

Roache said no one is hurt and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Town officials issued ashelter-in-place orderfor those living within half a mile of the derailment, though they stressed no evacuations have been ordered at this time.

Instead they urged residents to remain indoors as the liquid propane the train was carrying is odorless and wouldn't be immediately detected by smell.

The town also closed a nearby roadway and said school officials are working on alternative bus routes for students when classes end.

"Fortunately, it seems under control," Mansfield Town Manager Ryan Aylesworth said at a news conference.

The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said state and local hazardous materials teams monitoring for leaks have placed hazmat booms in the water as a precaution.

Roache said the recovery process could take days, given the derailment happened in a fairly remote location and under difficult, frigid conditions for responders.

"It's not going to be a today operation," he said. "They're going to have to get some cranes in there. It's going to take some time."

This story has been corrected to show that the University of Connecticut is located in Mansfield, not to the west of it.

Kelly Riparevealed she gave her three adult children the silent treatment over a disagreement about Instagram photos.

On the Tuesday (February 3) episode of herLet's Talk Off Camerapodcast, the long-time morning talk show host explained to her guest, Bronwyn Newport, that she recently got into an argument with her children, Michael (28), Lola (24), and Joaquin (22).

The incident happened over the holidays when Ripa wanted to post aslideshow of family photos on Instagram. What should have been a simple task turned into a huge ordeal when her kids refused to approve certain pictures for public posting.

"I've got to tell you, I tried to post a family carousel on Instagram on Christmas," Ripa said, perPeople. "I stopped talking to my kids for about four hours on Christmas because of the fighting and the arguing over, 'You can't use that picture of me. Well, you can't use that picture of me.'"

She added, "I was like, 'Guys, it's just a picture of us at church. It's not that deep. We're just in front of the Christmas tree at church.'"

Ripa, who shares her three children with her husband andLive with Kelly and Markco-hostMark Consuelos,has previously aired her frustrations about wrangling her kids for family photos.

In December, Ripa and Consuelos toldPeoplethat they decided to cut their kids out of their 2025 Christmas card. "We're tired of getting all the photos approved by our kids every year," Consuelos told the outlet. "They're out."

"We've cut them out," Ripa confirmed before revealing that her children were not happy about it. "They complained that they're not in the Christmas card this year. They feel very slighted, and [said] 'How could you?'"

However, Ripa stood by the decision, adding, "I said, 'I'm tired of waiting around for you to approve a picture. I've got to move."

Instead, Ripa and Consuelos took their Christmas card snap with the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders. "Mark just has a look on his face that is like… he's so excited and happy," Ripa said of the pic. "He's the happiest I've ever seen him in a Christmas card."

Another year, when the kids were being uncooperative, Ripa and Consuelos posed for a Christmas card photo with the latter's TV family from the showRiverdale.

As for future Christmas cards, Ripa said the dream is to take a snap with the Radio City Rockettes.

"Every year I'm like, 'We gotta get a picture with the Rockettes' but we do the show so late and I gotta get my Christmas card to the printer early," she explained. "So maybe we'll do a picture this year for next year's Christmas card."
