Indonesia orders food companies to apply colour-graded sugar, fat content stickers

JAKARTA, April 15 - Indonesia will require food and beverage companies to apply colour-graded labels for products high ‌in salt, sugar, and fat in two years in a ‌bid to combat obesity and other health risks, according to a new health ministry decree seen by Reuters.

Reuters

Reuters first reported the plan to introduce labelling norms last year. Here are some details:

* In a ministerial decree issued on Tuesday, Indonesiaofficially released a traffic-light "nutri-level" system of ‌redlabels for items high in fat, salt and sugar and green for thosewith low levels. * Companies may independently add a sticker with thecorresponding colours on their products based on test resultsfrom government laboratories, the decree showed. * The norms will be mandatory in two years, the decreeshowed, although it did not provide any details on ‌sanctions forcompanies that do not comply. * Stickers must also be added to menus at stores that sellready-made products, the decree showed. * More than 40 countries have established similar systems, whether voluntary or mandatory, the Organisation for EconomicCooperation and Development group of nations said ‌in 2023.Singapore also has a similar system. * Health ministry data shows that obesity rates doubled inthe decade up to 2023 in Indonesia, the world's ‌fourth mostpopulous nation with 280 million people. Child agency UNICEF hasalso warned of obesity risks for one in three adults and one infive school-age children. * The decree follows lobbying by the ‌United States anddomestic manufacturers, who urged President Prabowo Subianto toreconsider the plan, Reuters reported last year.

Artemis II astronauts welcomed home to Houston after historic moonshot

The four Artemis II astronauts, freshly backfrom a historic trip around the moon, flew back to NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston Saturday to cheers and applause from family members and hundreds of space center workers who gathered to welcome them home.

CBS News

Artemis II commander Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch and Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansensplashed down in the Pacific Oceansouthwest of San Diego Friday eveningto close outa nine-day mission, the first piloted flight to the moon and back since the end of the Apollo program a half century ago.

After medical checks and phone calls home to family and friends, all four boarded a NASA jet and flew back to Ellington Field a few miles from the space center. A raucous crowd awaited them in a nearby hangar, including the crew's families.

"After a brief 53-year intermission, the show goes on, and NASA is back in the business of sending astronauts to the moon and bringing them home safely," NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman told the cheering crowd.

Turning to the astronauts, he said, "Thank you for showing us the moon again. Thank you for showing us planet Earth again, and thank you for contributing to the greatest adventure in human history. Welcome home, Artemis II."

Wiseman stood up and after joking with his crewmates, said "I have absolutely no idea what to say. Twenty-four hours ago, the Earth was...out the window and we were doing mach 39 (times the speed of sound), and here we are back at Ellington at home."

Speaking with clear emotion, he said "before you launch, it feels like it's the greatest dream on Earth. And when you're out there, you just want to get back to your families and your friends. It's a special thing to be a human, and it's a special thing to be on planet Earth."

Glover, a deeply spiritual man who carried a Bible with him to the moon, said that when the mission started he wanted thank God in public.

"And I want to thank God again," he said Saturday. "Because even bigger than my challenge trying to describe what we went through, the gratitude of seeing what we saw, doing what we did and being with who I was with, it's too big to just be in one body."

Koch was equally moved by the experience of seeing Earth, suspended in the deep black of space, from the vantage point of the moon a quarter of a million miles away.

"When we saw tiny Earth, people asked our crew what impressions we had," she told the crowd. "And honestly, what struck me wasn't necessarily just Earth, it was all the blackness around it. Earth was just this lifeboat hanging undisturbingly in the universe.

"I know I haven't learned everything that this journey has yet to teach me. But there's one new thing I know, and that is planet Earth, you are a crew."

Strapped into an Orion crew capsule they named "Integrity,"the astronauts blasted offfrom the Kennedy Space Center on April 1 atop a Space Launch System rocket. They were the first to ride into space aboard the world's most powerful operational rocket, and the first to fly in an Orion capsule.

After spending a full day in Earth orbit checking out the Orion spacecraft's life support and other systems, they fired the capsule's service module engine to break away from Earth for a four-day flight to the moon.

It was NASA's first piloted moonshot since the final Apollo moon landing mission in 1972, and the first of what NASA envisions as a steady stream of flights while building a base near the lunar south pole.

The Artemis II mission had more modest goals, simply swinging around the moon on a free-return trajectory back to Earth, giving Wiseman and his crewmates an unprecedented opportunity to observe nearly a quarter of the moon's far side while it was illuminated by the sun.

They also were able to enjoy aspectacular solar eclipsewhen the moon moved in front of the sun from the crew's perspective, creating a ghostly glow around the darkened moon, an ethereal sight that left the crew awestruck.

"This continues to be unreal," Glover told Houston. "The sun has gone behind the moon, and the corona is still visible, and it's bright, and it creates a halo almost around the entire moon...The Earth is so bright out there and the moon is just hanging in front of us, this black orb out in front of us. We can see stars and the planets behind it."

The Orion capsule entered the moon's gravitational sphere of influence early last Monday andflew aroundthe dark side of the moon about 14 hours later, passing within about 4,000 miles of the lunar surface at close approach.

Moments later, they set a new record for the maximum distance anyone has ever flown from planet Earth -- 252,756 miles -- about 4,100 miles farther than a record set in 1970 by the crew of the ill-fated Apollo 13 mission during their emergency return to Earth.

The astronauts snapped thousands of photos during their historic pass around the moon, shot video and recorded their personal observations to give researchers insights based on the color sensitivity of the human eye.

"Your mission paves the way for America's return to the lunar surface very soon," President Trump radioed the astronauts. "We're going all out. We'll plant our flag once again, and this time we won't just leave footprints. We'll establish a permanent presence on the moon, and we'll push on to Mars. That'll be very exciting."

Before launch, the science team helped identify a few relatively fresh craters that had not been previously named. The crew proposed the name of their spacecraft for one.

"And the second one, especially meaningful for this crew, is a number of years ago, we...lost a loved one," Hansen said. "And there's a feature in a really neat place on the moon. And it is on the near-side/far-side boundary...And some times of the moon's transit around Earth we will be able to see this. So we lost a loved one, her name was Carroll, the spouse of Reid, the mother of Katey and Ellie...It's a bright spot on the moon. And we would like to call it Carroll."

"Integrity and Carroll Crater," Canadian astronaut Jenni Gibbons replied from mission control. "Loud and clear. Thank you."

At the welcome home ceremony Saturday, Hansen spoke last, saying the mission showed him a successful crew had three essential ingredients. The first is gratitude for the opportunity and the support of thousands who made the flight possible. The second was sharing the joy of the experience.

Then he called Wiseman, Glover and Koch to him for a group hug, adding, "The last one is love."

"What you saw was a group of people who loved contributing and extracting joy out of that," Hansen said. "And what we've been hearing is that was something special for you to witness. And the reason I had them form up here with me is because I would suggest to you that when you look up here, you're not looking at us. We are a mirror reflecting you. And if you like what you see, then just look a little deeper. This is you."

During an interview withThe New York Timesin March 2016, Paulson explained why shegravitates toward older partners.

"There's a poignancy to being with someone older," she said. "I think there's a greater appreciation of time and what you have together and what's important, and it can make the little things seem very small."

US and Iran hold historic talks in Pakistan on war's fragile ceasefire

ISLAMABAD (AP) — The United States and Iran began historic face-to-face negotiations Saturday in Pakistan, days after a fragile, two-week ceasefire was announced, asthe warthat has killed thousands of people and shaken global marketsentered its seventh week.

Pakistan US Iran Vance

The White House confirmed the direct nature of the talks, a rare instance of high-level engagement. Iranian state TV said talks continued as of 1 a.m. Sunday in Islamabad.

Meanwhile, the U.S. military said two destroyers transited the Iran-grippedStrait of Hormuzahead of mine-clearing work, a first since the war began. Iran’s state media, however, said the joint military command denied that.

The U.S. delegation led byVice President JD Vanceand the Iranian one led by Parliament SpeakerMohammad Bagher Qalibafdiscussed with Pakistan how to advance the ceasefire already threatened by deep disagreements and Israel's continued attacks against the Iranian-backed Hezbollah inLebanon, whose health ministry said the death toll has surpassed 2,000.

Since the Islamic Revolution in Iran in 1979, the most direct U.S. contact had been in 2013 when President Barack Obama called newly elected President Hassan Rouhani to discuss Iran’s nuclear program. The most recent highest-level meetings were between Secretary of State John Kerry and counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif during negotiations over the program.

Now talks feature Vance, areluctant defenderof the war who has little diplomatic experience and warned Iran not to “try and play us,” and Qalibaf, a former commander with Iran's powerful Revolutionary Guard who has issued some of Iran's most fiery statements since fighting began.

Iran sets ‘red lines’ including compensation for strikes

Iran’s state-run news agency said the three-party talks began after Iranian preconditions, including a reduction in Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon, were met.

Iran's delegation told state television it had presented “red lines” in meetings with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, including compensation for damage caused by U.S.-Israeli strikes that launched the war on Feb. 28 and releasing Iran’s frozen assets.

The war has killed at least 3,000 people in Iran, 2,020 in Lebanon, 23 in Israel and more than a dozen in Gulf Arab states, and caused lasting damage to infrastructure in half a dozen Middle Eastern countries. Iran's grip on the Strait of Hormuz has largely cut off the Persian Gulf and its oil and gas exports from the global economy, sending energy prices soaring.

Reflecting the high stakes, officials from the region said Chinese, Egyptian, Saudi and Qatari officials were in Islamabad to indirectly facilitate talks. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the sensitive matter.

In Tehran, residents told The Associated Press they were skeptical yet hopeful after weeks of airstrikes left destruction across their country of some 93 million people.

“Peace alone is not enough for our country because we’ve been hit very hard, there have been huge costs,” 62-year-old Amir Razzai Far said.

In his strongest words yet, Pope Leo XIV denounced the “delusion of omnipotence” fueling the war.

US sending forces to help mine-clearing on the strait

Ahead of the talks, President Donald Trump accused Iran of using the Strait of Hormuz for extortion, and told reporters Friday it would be opened “with or without them.”

Iran’s closure of the strait has proved its biggest strategic advantage in the war. Around a fifth of the world’s traded oil had typically passed through on over 100 ships a day. Only 12 have been recorded transiting since the ceasefire.

On Saturday, Trump said on social media that the U.S. had begun “clearing out” the strait.

“Today, we began the process of establishing a new passage and we will share this safe pathway with the maritime industry soon,” U.S. Central Command commander Adm. Brad Cooper later said. The U.S. statement about the destroyers added: "Additional U.S. forces, including underwater drones, will join the clearance effort in the coming days.”

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had said Tehran was entering negotiations with “deep distrust” afterstrikeson Iran during previous talks. Araghchi, part of Iran’s delegation in Pakistan, said Saturday that his country was prepared to retaliate if attacked again.

Iran’s 10-point proposal ahead of the talks called for a guaranteed end to the war and sought control over the Strait of Hormuz. It included ending fighting against Iran’s “regional allies," explicitly calling for a halt to Israeli strikes on Hezbollah.

The United States’ 15-point proposal includes restricting Iran’s nuclear program and reopening the strait.

Israel and Lebanon will have direct negotiations

Meanwhile, Israel pressed ahead with strikes in Lebanon aftersaying there is no ceasefire there. Iran and Pakistan have disagreed. The Lebanese state-run news agency reported at least three people killed.

Negotiations between Israel and Lebanon are expected to begin Tuesday in Washington, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun’s office said Friday, after Israel'ssurprise announcement authorizing talksdespite the countries lack of official relations.

But as thousands in Lebanon protested the planned negotiations, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said he had postponed a planned trip to Washington “in light of the current internal circumstances.” His absence should not affect talks as the first round is expected to be at the ambassadorial level.

Israel wants Lebanon's government to assume responsibility for disarming Hezbollah, much like was envisaged in aNovember 2024 ceasefire. But it is unclear whether Lebanon's army can confiscate weapons from the militant group, which has survived efforts to curb its strength for decades.

Hezbollah joined the war in support of Iran in the opening days. Israel followed with airstrikes and aground invasion.

The day the Iran ceasefire deal was announced, Israelpounded Beirut with airstrikes, killing more than 300 people in the deadliest day in Lebanon since the war began, according to the country's Health Ministry.

Castillo reported from Beijing, Magdy from Cairo and Anna from Lowville, New York. Associated Press writer Josh Boak contributed.

"There's no shame in staying in motion," he captioned a photo posted Wednesday that shows him delivering packages.

"Working hard while 'not working,'" Pintauro wrote. "The entertainment business has been soooo slow, so I've been doing what a lot of people do — figuring it out, showing up, and taking the work that's there while I keep building the work I really want. 38 packages today!"

As a child star, Pintauro portrayed Jonathan Bower, the son ofJudith Light's Angela Bower on the classic sitcom.Who's the Boss?foundTony Danza's Tony Micelli as the housekeeper for Angela, her son Jonathan, and her mother Mona, who was played by the lateKatherine Helmond. Micelli brought along his daughter, Samantha, who played by Alyssa Milano.

In addition toWho's the Boss?, Pintauro appeared in episodes ofThe Secret Life of the American Teenager,Highway to Heaven, and alongside other former child stars in 2020'sThe Quarantine Bunch.

Pintauro explained toPEOPLEthat the residuals from the hit TV series aren't as much as people would expect.

“People overestimate what residuals from a sitcom in the '80s and '90s look like," he said. "I invested a good portion of that money, but I also used a lot of it to pay for Stanford and to get through my early 20s, so it's not like there's just been endless money sitting there."

The actor graduated from Stanford University in 1998, part of more than a decade he spent away from the entertainment industry after his signature series ended.

"Returning to acting after a 10-year break is an uphill battle," the Los Angeles-based Pintauro said. "I'm reintroducing myself as an adult actor in an industry that looks very different than it once did."

January projections indicated that film and TV production in L.A.fell 16 percentin 2025, marking its lowest point since 2020.

He told the outlet that he just wanted to be honest about what's going on in his life.

"And this chapter is all about auditioning, teaching for Young Actors Theatre Camp, building my coaching studio The Resonant Actor, creating custom book nooks for clients, and driving for Amazon Flex to supplement my income," Pintauro said. "There's no shame in staying in motion while the entertainment business finds its footing."
