The NFL announced Nov. 30 that the pregame ceremony, home to three patriotic anthems, would feature performances fromBrandi Carlile,Charlie Puth, andCoco Jones.
Puth will perform "The Star-Spangled Banner," while Carlile will tackle "America the Beautiful." Jones will sing "Lift Every Voice and Sing," sometimes referred to as the Black National Anthem, and Fred Beam and Julian Ortiz will serve as American Sign Language interpreters.

TheNFL has remained steadfast in their choice, however.
Addressing the controversy at a news conference following the NFL's fall meeting, league commissioner Rodger Goodell said, "I'm not sure we've ever selected an artist where we didn't have some blowback or criticism.
