HGTVstarBobby Berkrevealed his engagement to his husband, medical doctorDr. Dutron "Dewey" Do, didn't exactly go as planned.
Entertainment Nowreported that Berk shared that his husband surprised him with a proposal and wedding during a Cabo vacation in 2012 during aDecember2025 episode of comedianNicole Byer's podcast,Why Won't You Date Me.
Berk shared that he "had no idea" his husband was planning on proposing and having "a surprise wedding the same day." Hours before the engagement, the interior designer baked pot brownies for him and his friends, even though he's "not a big weed person." Berk also said that because the weed "was old," he used quite a bit of it for the brownies, causing him to have the "worst drug experience of [his] entirelife."
"We almost like called an ambulance. We were so messed up. Like, I was scooting across the floor because the gravity of the earth was so strong I couldn't stand up. My husband was likerunningaround the house seeing bunny rabbits and throwing up and it was just a horrible thing," recalled the formerQueer Eyestar during the podcast interview.
Berk said that the nextmorning, he and his husband "were supposed to go on this catamaran the next morning on the Sea of Cortez sailing." He said while on the boat, his husband got "on one knee" to propose, "but then proceeds to lean over the side of the boat and throw up."
"Then everyone throws up. So that was my proposal. Everyone throwing up," said theJunk or Jackpot?star.
He then shared that after they returned to the vacation home they were staying at, he was surprised by his actual wedding.
"The wedding's there. The wedding's happening. Friends are there waiting. I'm still stoned," quipped Berk during theWhy Won't You Date Mepodcast.
Bobby Berk & His Husband Began Dating Over 20 Years Ago
Berk revealed he and his husband began dating over 20 years ago in a February 2024 interview onThe Jennifer Hudson Show. He explained that he and Do "met online." He said, however, they would say they "met at likeStarbucks" or at a bar because online dating was still taboo in the early 2000s.
In addition, Berk said that he met his husband, who is a maxillofacial surgeon, "a week before he started med school." He also joked that Do is often looking at his face because of his line of work of doing "facial reconstruction" surgeries.
"Since he does facial stuff, we'll be talking and all of a sudden I start to notice his eyes start wandering to like my forehead or my crow's feet. And I'm like, 'Hey, hey, hey what's wrong with my face now?' 'Well maybe we need a little touch up on botox,'" said Berk in the February 2024 talk show interview.
