Whoopi Goldbergis candidly embracing life on her own terms.

During the Wednesday, March 18, episode ofThe View, the EGOT winner weighed in on a discussion about a recentCosmopolitanessay, in which a woman in a happy long-term relationship admitted to missing her single days — particularly the spontaneity of casual flings and nights out.

Goldberg didn't hesitate to relate. "I bar hop, I go hang," she said, prompting co-hostJoy Beharto ask whether she personally missed that chapter of her life.

"I am single," Goldberg, 70, replied. "I do hit-and-runs when I need it, but I am not married to anybody [and] I don't have responsibilities."

Her comments reflect a perspective she has shared before — that traditional relationships are not necessarily for her. In a recent interview withInterview Magazine, Goldberg said, "In the last 25 years, I recognized that not everybody's cut out to be in a relationship. Some people are just cut out to be one-night stands."

"I don't want to live with anybody," she added. "I have lots of people that I love, but I don't need them living with me. I don't need to be sleeping with them."

Goldberg has long been open about her views on relationships and intimacy. Reflecting on her past marriages during a2025 episodeofThe View, she said, "I was always having great sex, I just wasn't having any fun," adding that her experience differs from those who feel unfulfilled outside of long-term partnerships.

Over the years, she has also been frank about why marriage doesn't suit her. In a May 2024 appearance onWho's Talking to Chris Wallace?, Goldberg said, "When you're married to somebody, you have to be invested in how they're feeling. I am not," before laughing and adding, "I don't care how you feel. It's terrible."

Still, she emphasized that her independence does not come at the expense of connection. "I'm invested in my kid. I'm invested in her kids. I'm invested in my son-in-law. I'm invested in my friends," she said. "But I'm not invested in a relationship that would require as much as having a child requires."

"I'm in touch with every one of them, because once they were my friends,"Goldberg saidin October 2024. "It doesn't mean that we talk all the time, but I will be respectful enough for you."

"I don't have to sleep with you, I don't have to eat with you," she added. "But I can be [friendly], because there's nobody that I've lived with or messed with that I absolutely hate."
