In an interview with “Full Measure” host Sharyl Attkisson, shared online Sunday, the president was asked: “Do you see your son Barron going into politics someday?”

“Well, maybe, he’s certainly a popular guy,” replied Trump.

Then he hyped up other family members, and by extension himself, when he added: “But I have a lot of members of my family that are very popular, you know?”

The president then concluded: “I have good kids, I have very good kids.”

Bafta TV awards 2026: A titanically tepid ceremony

After controversy at thefilm Baftasover the broadcasting of a racial slur, the last thing the BBC needed was another flashpoint at the television awards. All involved can rest easy because not only was the ceremony lacking in contentious moments – for long stretches it seemed to be missing a pulse altogether.

The Telegraph Taskmaster's Greg Davies hosted the awards

Taskmaster’s Greg Davies was the new host, taking over from Alan Cumming, who has vowed to never again helm the Baftas following the fall-out over the film awards (which he also presented). Davies was off to a respectable start with a funny pre-recorded sketch in which he introduced an eye-rolling teenager to the joys of British television down the decades – the elephant pooing on Blue Peter, people shouting at each other onEastEndersand so forth.

But it was a different story once he stepped on stage for the live broadcast (not actually live, of course – the BBC was airing it with a delay and with new protocols to ensure there was no repeat of the shambles at the film Baftas). Nervous throughout, Davies had the air of someone happy to simply get through the evening. His jitteriness deprived the two-hour ceremony of the one essential for an awards show: a sense of fun.

Lucy Punch and Philippa Dunne of Amandaland, which won Best Scripted Comedy

Instead of fun, there was lots of silliness. Too much, it quickly became clear. Many of the celebrities dragged up to dole out awards had decided to seize the spotlight with less than hilarious results. Comic actresses Lucy Punch and Philippa Dunne seemed to be improvising a scene from their seriesAmandalandon the spot – to tepid guffaws from a generally stony room. Next camenew Harry Potteractor Paapa Essiedu, who thought it would be hilarious to refer to his co-star Nick Frost by the name of his Rowling-verse character, Hagrid – with a pay-off about as funny as a real-life game of Quidditch.

Hollywood glamourwas sprinkled courtesy ofSeverance’s Adam Scott and rapper-turned-actress Awkwafina, who turned up to present awards. They were mere warm-ups for Tinsel Town comedian Seth Rogen, who won Best International Show forThe Studioand approached the Bafta podium like someone who had tumbled through the back of a wardrobe into a parallel dimension.

“This award show is so cool,” he said, before pointing to Davies, who was watching from a corner of the stage. “I love that this guy sits there in a little chair.” Rogen then gestured towards veteran actress Celia Imrie, whoseflatulence onThe Celebrity Traitorsprovided the evening with one of its running gags. “I assume this woman is very skilled and talented. All I know is she farted on a reality show.”

It was not the last time the Traitors was name-dropped. The Claudia Winkleman backstabbing festival was one of the evening’s duo of big winners (it scooped two awards). The other wasAdolescence, which continued the victory lap which it has seemingly been on since the invention of television itself.

The Celebrity Traitors won two awards

Ethereal pop star Aurora provided the evening with one of its emotive high points as she performed her haunting ballad,Through the Eyes of a Child– from the score to, yes,Adolescence. She was soundtracking an in memoriam section which marked the passing of Prunella Scales, Desmond Morris, James Van Der Beek and others – though there was no mention ofSchitt’s CreekstarCatherine O’Hara, to whom Studio co-star Rogen had paid tribute.

The tone was often jarring. Amid all the wackiness and bantering, rapper-turned-DIY expert Tinie Tempah was the rare award presenter to maintain a straight face – just as well as he was about to hand Simon Schama an accolade for a documentary about the Holocaust. Meanwhile, a skit in which news presenter Kirsty Wark was rude to Davies landed oddly – her “fake” annoyance containing flashes of genuine irritation.

Tellingly, many of the more serious awards were relegated to a highlights section. They included the current affairs category, which was won byGaza: Doctors Under Attack, broadcast by Channel 4 after the BBC declined to air it. “Given you dropped our film, will you drop us from the Bafta screening later tonight?”, wondered Ben de Pear, the founder of the production company that made the film. He got his answer – the comments were broadcast but during a montage that was over almost before it began.

The message repeated from the podium was that television has no rival when it comes to the shared viewing experience. It’s a fair point. How ironic that it was made during a titanically tepid ceremony that would have had many viewers reach for their phones and scrolling furiously.

Times Sheboygan was mentioned on Stephen Colbert’s 'Late Show'

SHEBOYGAN – The word “Sheboygan” has graced living rooms for years.

USA TODAY

The Kenosha Kickers polka band that John Candy’s character is part of in the 1990 holiday classic “Home Alone” is popular in Sheboygan, and Chicken Joe from the 2007 animated family movie “Surf’s Up” is from the city. A character from medical drama “ER” was from Sheboygan, too.

More recently, Sheboygan was also mentioned in aState Farm ad with Caitlin Clark, andU.S. Rep. Glenn GrothmanandJohnsonvillewere mentioned in late-night television.

'Big in Sheboygan':'Home Alone' Polka King of the Midwest Gus Polinski gets bobblehead

Repeated mentions of the city have been made on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” many during the 2024 presidential campaign. The novelty of Sheboygan being named on the show attracted the city’s attention that summer, with Mayor Ryan Sorenson’s officesending a care package and inviting Colbert to visit.

With “The Late Show” ending its11th and final season on May 21, we wanted to revisit several times Sheboygan has been named on the late-night show.

Caitlin Clark State Farm ad:To what trivia question did Caitlin Clark correctly answer 'Sheboygan' in State Farm ad?

Sheboygan named in 'funny name towns' joke about Luigi Mangione arrest

In December 2024, Colbert made ajoke about the name of the town Luigi Mangione, who has since been charged in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, was found. He was arrested in Altoona, Pennsylvania.

“Classic bad guy mistake,” Colbert said. “Fleeing to one of America’s funny name towns. Police will always find you right away, whether it’s Altoona, Pennsylvania, Rancho Cucamonga, California, or Sheboygan, Wisconsin,” Colbert said, drawing out “boy” as “boing.”

After the audience whooped and applauded, Colbert said, ““We have some native She-boingers here tonight.”

Colbert joked about Trump's 'horrible city' and 'Jaws' comments on campaign trail

"The Late Show" named Sheboygan two times within the same week in summer 2024.

First, Colbert made a joke about President Donald Trumpcalling Milwaukee a “horrible city."Milwaukee was hosting the Republican National Convention the following month.

Colbert cautioned Trump in dissing Milwaukee, saying he learned his lesson about making jokes about the city in 2020. After thecancellation of the Democratic National Conventionas a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the show aired a segment saying people could still visit through a virtual tour, with a virtual tailgate and things like an “abandoned mall” and “abandoned factory.”

The jokes didn’t bode well in Milwaukee, and Colbert apologized on air before accepting an invitation to attend aMilwaukee Brewers game the following year. He also ran in the beloved Sausage Race.

“I learned my lesson the hard way and have since learned to appreciate Milwaukee, the eternal city,” he said. “The Paris of Wisconsin. Suck it, Sheboygan.”

Two days after the “horrible city” bit, Colbert named Sheboygan in another joke about Trump, this time abouta rally he attended in Racine. Trump told the crowd it was better being with them along Lake Michigan than sitting on the Pacific or Atlantic coasts, where there are sharks.

“Sure, that’s what everyone associates with Wisconsin,” Colbert said. “No sharks. Remember this scene from Jaws.”

A shark attack scene from the movie played with a voiceover of, “I should’ve moved to Sheboygan!”

Colbert likens Sheboygan and Milwaukee to lackluster crowd reaction during 'Bidenomics' visit

Another mention of Sheboygan came in fall 2023, when Colbert made jokes aboutformer President Joe Biden’svisit to Philadelphia to talk about his “Bidenomics” agenda.

“It’s good to be almost home," Biden said, greeting the crowd in the clip shared on the show. "Hey guys, I live in Delaware, OK? And by the way, I’m a big Pennsylvania guy, I should have an advantage in Philly. One, I married a Philly girl. Two, you’re between Scranton and Wilmington. You know, Scranton — you guys have no sense of humor, man.”

The crowd responded with scattered chuckles.

“Those were punchlines?” Colbert said.

In response to Biden’s attempt to share a sense of local pride with the crowd — though Scranton is about two hours away from Philadelphia and Wilmington, respectively — Colbert exchanged his glasses for black lens aviators, likening the president.

“Thanks for coming out to the Chuckle Hut,” Colbert said on the show in his Biden persona. “I love being in Milwaukee, but actually I’m from Sheboygan. It’s about an hour north, 50 minutes if there’s no traffic on 43. Wow, it’s a tough room. You can also take 57 to 23 East. Nothing? That joke usually kills on Google Maps.”

Duffys fire back after Pete Buttigieg, husband attack new road trip TV series: 'Radical, miserable left'

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and his wife, "Fox & Friends" co-host Rachel Campos-Duffy, fired back on Friday after former Sec.Pete Buttigiegand his husband launched a barrage of attacks against the Duffys' upcoming "Great American Road Trip" reality TV series.

Fox News

The feud ignited Friday after the couple announced the new show on "Fox & Friends." Chasten Glezman Buttigieg quickly took to X to bash the project, accusing the Duffys of taking a "multi-month, taxpayer-funded family road trip" while gas and grocery prices soar due to "Trump's war of choice."

He went on to call the couple "unfocused, unserious, and out of touch," and aired old grievances about the Duffys' past criticism of Pete Buttigieg working from his son's ICU bedside.

Pete Buttigieg joined in on the attack on X, adding, "I love a good road trip, but this is brutally out of touch: a Trump Cabinet member making a documentary about himself while regular families can’t afford road trips anymore, because Trump and his war put gas prices through the roof."

Rachel Campos-Duffy replied to Chasten Buttigieg's post, telling him to "stand down," and clarifying the production was funded entirely by a nonprofit, The Great American Road Trip, Inc.

She said her family participated for free to celebrate America's 250th birthday and noted the series was filmed in short one- and two-day stops over seven months.

"You and I both know that my husband hasdone more in one yearto transform the DOT and ATC than your husband did in over 4 years on the job," Campos-Duffy said.

Sean Duffy waited until Saturday to deliver a blistering response, claiming the "radical, miserable left" hates the series because it is "too wholesome," "too patriotic" and "too joyful."

He confirmed career ethics and budget officials at the Department of Transportation fully reviewed and cleared his participation in accordance with federal rules, emphasized zero taxpayer dollars were used, and said filming took place strictly during short windows like weekends and his children's spring break.

Dot Cracks Down On Thousands Of Illegal Immigrant Truckers, As Agency Looks To Holiday Travel: Duffy

He also defended his fast-paced record at the DOT, highlightingmodernized air traffic control, the removal of illegal truck drivers and a 20% annual increase in hiring controllers compared to his predecessor.

Following the Duffys' corrections, Chasten Buttigieg pivoted his line of attack, reposting multiple creators on X Saturday who took aim at the road trip's corporate sponsors, which include DOT-regulated entities like Boeing, UnitedAirlines, Toyota and Shell.

The reposted critics alleged a conflict of interest, claiming the companies funded an "extended vacation" for the secretary. The posts also attempted to tie the sponsorships to claims that Duffy hashalted safety standards, pardoned airlines that violated consumer laws, and hasn't fined a single airline in over a year.

Despite the political mudslinging and moving goalposts from critics, the Duffys continue encouraging families to ignore the "haters" and explore America'snational parksand monuments ahead of the nation's 250th birthday.

"Our message is really simple: to love America is to see America," Sec. Duffy said. "So put the phone down, hit the open road, and rediscover what makes America great."

Your morning coffee could be silently changing how you respond to touch

Coffee could be slowly changing how thebrain responds to touchand one’s own body movements, a small new study suggests.

The Independent US

Millions worldwide take acup of coffeein the morning to increase wakefulness, alleviate fatigue, and improve concentration and focus.

Normal doses of about a cup or two ofdaily coffeehave between 50 and 400 mg of its active ingredient caffeine.

Exactly how higher doses of coffee affect the brain’s perception of touch remains less studied.

Now, a new study has assessed how normal and high doses of caffeine affect a specific brain process.

This brain process is assessed using a method called short-latency afferent inhibition (SAI), in which a mild electrical shock is sent to the wrist shortly before sending a magnetic pulse into the brain.

The sensory signal from the wrist travels up the arm and enters the brain’s somatosensory area, and milliseconds later, the magnetic pulse hits the nearby motor cortex to trigger a thumb twitch.

To suppress the twitch, the brain typically requires a coordinated effort among specific chemical messengers in the brain.

This brain process typically acts as a filtering system to keep movements smooth and controlled, preventing the brain from overreacting to every single touch.

In the latest study, researchers assessed this filtering process in 20 healthy adults, who received either 200mg of caffeine or a placebo.

Scientists stimulated the motor cortex of the patients with magnetic pulses using a non-invasive method, and then measured how their brains reacted.

They found that caffeine increased the brain's ability to restrict muscle response after a touch, indicating that coffee could “enhance SAI”.

Scientists suspect caffeine acts by blocking adenosine receptor proteins in the brain.

Blocking of the receptors could lead to an increase in acetylcholine, a chemical messenger that helps control how our senses and muscle movement work together.

“This finding aligns with findings that cholinergic-enhancing drugs like donepezil also enhance SAI,” researchers wrote.

"Caffeine's effect may result from its modulation of the cholinergic system,” scientists wrote, adding that the findings offer insights into the drug’s physiological action and how it may be tied to disorders like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.

Scientists hope to conduct further studies with more participants, using more than 400 mg of caffeine.

“In light of the results discussed so far, subjects should continue to abstain from caffeine before SAI examinations,” they concluded.
