A judge has ordered a mental evaluation of the 85-year-old white man who shot Ralph Yarl, a black teenager who accidentally rang the wrong doorbell in April 2023. It means the trial of Andrew Lester from Kansas City, Missouri, has now been delayed indefinitely after his lawyer requested the evaluation last month. Lester's lawyer claims the retired aircraft mechanic's health has deteriorated so much he now lacks the capacity to understand the proceedings against him or to assist in his own defense.
