Charles Shyer, a Hollywood director and Oscar-nominated writer, has died. He was 83. Shyer's daughter, Hallie Meyers-Shyer — who followed in his footsteps as a director and writer — confirmed his death to The Hollywood Reporter. Meyers-Shyer said her father dealt with a brief illness before his death at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Friday, Dec. 27. His official cause of death has not yet been disclosed. A day later, Meyers-Shyer shared a throwback photo of Shyer on her Instagram Stories, alongside a heartfelt message.
